Warwick Business School is planning an all day celebration of International Women's Day at The Shard in 2018.

This year, our theme focuses on strategies to support women (back) into management roles. We will look at how organisations can encourage workforce diversity, and how they can support re-entry back into the world of work for employees who have taken a career break.

The day will be split into four sessions; you are welcome to register for one, two or all four, depending on your areas of interest. If you intend to stay for more than one session, please ensure to select a ticket for each session from the options above.

Session 1 12:00-15:30
Business Case Simulation with Business Smart International

Business Smart InternationalWe're delighted to welcome Business Smart International to offer a real-time business case simulation, which will be undertaken in small groups. This session is open to all, including those who would like to experience some of the innovative teaching methods employed at Warwick Business School. Business case simulations are a key learning tool used in the Warwick MBA.

Given the nature of this session, there is a limit of 30 places for this portion of the day.

Panel Event: Practical strategies for supporting women (back) into senior management roles

Our panel consists of speakers from organisations that have pioneered techniques for supporting women (back) into the workplace. Each speaker will share the practical tools they have used, and the lessons learned in supporting workforce engagement and diversity. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear examples of strategies that have worked in their organisations - and could work for you too.

Ilona BrannenIlona Brannnen, Global Learning and Development Consultant, PwC

Ilona is a passionate advocate for technology and digital transformation with a special interest in leadership development and digital strategy.

Her key interest is examining how digital technology is shaping the world of work, and how future leaders need to build skills to be able to address these challenges. Ilona is a trusted business advisor, and alumna of the University of Warwick (BA History, 2006).

Mark Lomas

Mark Lomas, Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, High Speed Two (HS2)

Mark has over 10 years' experience of successfully developing and implementing diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategies across large national organisations. He has worked in numerous sectors with organisations such as The Law Society and the BBC.

Mark has designed and delivered numerous workshops, and is a published author on the topics of equality and diversity. He has won awards and accolades for diversity programmes under his management.

Anne Vu

Anne Vu, Head of Markets Accelerator Programme, Commercial Banking Markets, Lloyds Bank

Anne's focus is developing the recruitment and development strategy for Graduates, Apprentices, Associates, PhDs and Returners at Lloyds. Her role enables the bank to retain its top talent to fulfil specific business needs on a sustainable basis.

Prior to starting this role in 2017, Anne spent 12 years in risk management supporting clients' transactions in the corporate and banking sector across several jurisdictions. Anne has been a longstanding advocate of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and has been actively involved in D&I activities since joining Lloyds in 2010.

Business Leader Lecture with Denise Wilson OBE

We are delighted to welcome Denise Wilson, Chief Executive of the Hampton-Alexander Review, back to Warwick Business School this International Women's Day. Denise will share findings from the research she is leading into female leaders at FTSE 100 companies. WBS Associate Professor Maja Korica will introduce Denise and chair the Q&A.

Chief Executive Hampton-Alexander Review

Denise Wilson OBE is a passionate supporter of women in business. Currently a Non-Executive Director of Ecclesiastical Insurance Group, Chair of the Remuneration Committee, and Chair of the Royal Academy of Arts Friends, alongside her role on the Hampton-Alexander Review. Her previous appointments include Chief Executive of the Davies Review and various executive roles at National Grid, BG Group and British Gas.

She is an executive coach and mentor with a portfolio of charity CEOs and senior business women. Denise is fluent in Spanish as well as English, and has international experience in the USA, India and South America.

Maya Korica

Dr Maja Korica, Associate Professor, Warwick Business School

Maja Korica specialises in corporate governance, accountability and responsibility, executive management, and leadership in practice. She is currently undertaking research funded by the British Academy.

In 2017, Maya was shortlisted for the Thinkers50 Radar Award, identifying her as a someone most likely to shape the future of how organisations are led and managed. Maya is an award-winning teacher, being named one of the Top 40 Undergraduate Professors by Poets & Quants in 2017. She also leads on the WBS Distinguished Lecture Series at The Shard.

The Art of Negotiating your Next Raise or Salary, with Daniel Porot

In this session, Daniel Porot will cover both the practical and the ideal, including topics such as the best time to negotiate, your contribution ratio, golden rules and fringe benefits. His session is applicable to all genders, ensuring that all audience members leave with strategies that they can implement directly into their upcoming conversations.

Daniel has more than 40 years' experience in business, starting his career with EXXON and AMOCO prior to launching his own business in 1971.

Daniel and his team of trainers have run workshops, seminars and conferences in 60 different countries throughout the world, teaching over 90 different nationalities. To date, he has taught over 133,000 participants.

Daniel is the author of 22 books, including three European best sellers and one US best seller.
